Amanda Fulk currently lives and works in Houston, Texas. She received a BFA with emphasis in painting from the University of Houston. She has shown her work nationally and internationally. Her recent ink works on paper are influenced by the Japanese symbol Ensō, Minimalist Expressionist Art and Abstract Expressionism. Although she works in a multitude of mediums and styles, her interest for simplistic and primitive marks and cathartic emotional release brought her to the exploration of inks on fine paper. The broad and bold brush marks contain an intuitive spontaneity but also show controlled and purposeful movement. These qualities can also be seen in her realistic portrait paintings, photography and ceramics.
